Question from My Friend

It’s a Saturday morning in my high school mosque. I and my friend talk in English because we think our ability wasn’t great. We talk about so many things. But there is one thing I really remember.

She asked me, why did the women in Saudi can’t go without their man? Why did it really unsafe for women to walk alone without the man, their husband or their father or their brother or their uncle, beside them?

But in Indonesia, we are safe to walk alone to the campus in other town and we are safe to walk alone even without important goal, etc. As she know (and me too), Islamic condition is far better there in Saudi than in Indonesia.

I didn’t know the answer. I think it’s about the different culture. But I think, there are too many things to be concluded into one conclusion.

However, I think the men in Saudi and the men in Indonesia still the same, they love women. As we know too, the women still beautiful everywhere.

Dear, friend. You know who you are. Here’s my answer for you. I hope you love my answer.

In Saudi, to “attract” the men, Saudi’s women only have to go out without their man. They go with fully veiled even on their face; they don’t need to show what are forbidden to show.

But in Indonesia, to “attract” the men, women have to show a half of those are forbidden to show. Minimum, they show their hair. The men weren’t attracted anymore to the women with tidy closed cloth. They have to see more to be attracted… At least they have to see beautiful face though they love women with veil on their head.

It’s not a generalization for all men and women in Indonesia. It’s globally happen to every men and women.

What you see is what you want. Remember that. So, be careful when you looking at something…
